My husband and I were both off from before Christmas until New Year's Day. We are very lucky, and this was the first time in a very long time that we have had time off together to just relax and enjoy each other's company.
Christmas was fantastic. We hosted dinner on Christmas Eve and then went to other family members for breakfast and dinner on Christmas Day. Christmas also included a glorious afternoon nap.
The weekend after Christmas started with the Russell Athletic Bowl where Va Tech beat Rutgers. We didn't really have a vested interest in either team, but I am not one to turn down going to a live sporting event. They had paratroopers jump into the stadium at the beginning of the game and that was very cool.

Then my parents came to town for a quick trip. We hung out an went to Dixie Crossroads for dinner on Saturday. The food there is delicious. Sunday we headed to Blue Springs state park and saw the manatees hanging out in the "warm" water. This park is so cool and they are doing a lot to help these adorable and harmless creatures.

Manatees just chillin |
For New Year's Eve we grilled steaks and hung out at home. I am to old for the party scene. Similar to last year, I called it a night well before midnight. Oh well, maybe next year.
New Year's Day included homemade chili, lots of football, dinner at my sister-in-laws and a ride on the ferris wheel at Light Up UCF. I thought it was a nice way to start the year.
2012 was a roller coaster ride with a number of highs and some pretty low lows. I am curious to see what 2013 has in store. Hopefully we can stay on the kiddie coaster this year.
What are you hoping for 2013?
